Jack in the Box (mezzotint)  9"x7"

In the beginning, I would seek out dark places in which to see visions that arose from self-induced trances... closets, the crawlspace under the house, etc. I began doing this in first grade. By third grade I decided to be an artist. Besides my first mentor, Lou Ierardi ( my step-father ) I studied Printmaking with the late Peter Ramsey, in Seattle; and with Laurent Schkolnyk, in Nantes, France. I live in STUDIO 7, with my press, in Friday Harbor, Wa., where I am currently writing my memoir: POVERTY & ILLUMINATION.

Art has always been a vehicle for information. In a consumer society it has become both impossible & easy to make art. The more technology enables the masses to create their own images, the less venerated the imaginative artists have become. This is good. The destruction of monetary values and art, music, etc., through means of reproduction will eventually free all of us from even thinking about art in financial terms, an endless discussion that bores me to death.

I never thought I'd last this long in the body of an animal. But then, I was many strangers older one minute into this storm where men go mad. I just waved: Bye-Bye, to myself & said: I AM NOT YOU!
