Bob began his career during the burgeoning of the print workshops in 1970. He worked at Impressions Workshop in Boston and at the Printshop in Amsterdam Netherlands. He earned a B.F.A. from University of Massachusetts and M.F.A. from Syracuse University.  A faculty member at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass. and member of The Boston Printmakers since 1986, his lithographs are included in collections here and abroad. In 2009 he was the co-winner of The Dayton Peace Museums International Peace Prize for The Arts. He participated in the London Liberal Arts College, "Year of Subversion Exhibition” in 2013. His essays have appeared in the Print Alliance Journal,"Prints and Politics", Visual Overture Magazine, and the Bangalore Review. Other writing has appeared in Literal Minded, Orange Alert, Shine Journal, Askew Reviews, Glossolalia, Creative Writing Now, Blinking Cursor, Bap Q, Lunarosity, Icelandic Review, Writers Billboard, First Writers Magazine, Milspeak, Subterranean Journal, South Jersey Underground, Cavalier Magazine, Yellow Mama, Visual Overture, Vox Poetica, Ascent Aspirations Magazine, The Red Fez, Forum Magazine, and Spilling Ink Anthology.

What is art, if not a depiction of tension--of merged dualities. Scholarship and esthetics; the inner and the outer self: the masculine and the feminine, the light and the dark? These are the underlying themes in my work.  For fifty years, I have exhibited my work nationally and internationally as a professional printmaker, bookbinder, painter and hand paper maker. I have created monumental site installations exploring our relationship with the environment, and delved into the collective unconscious of our culture. Communicating with the universe in such "big" ways, these site specific projects have changed lives, and fostered new ideas in their viewers as well as in their maker. The process of imaginative expression is central to my work. With process as my muse, I explore daily life, motherhood, sexuality, aging and our human relationship to the Earth in my varied series. Find textures, layers of marks and vivid hues in my studio watercolors and oils; notice the variety of techniques I use to make monoprints; rejoice with me in the landscape’s beauty in my pleine-aire pieces. My work is a magical personal vision of our world. For twenty years, I taught art, humanities and mathematics. The focus of my scholarship was mythology dating as far back as the Anatolian Neolithic. My teaching responsibilities have extended from the Mythological Studies Department at Pacifica Graduate Institute to the Women's Studies Department at the University of Missouri St. Louis, and the Mathematics Department at St. Louis Community College. I have lived, taught and made art in Florence, Italy; Brno, Czech Republic; and Catalhoyuk, Turkey, and have presented numerous papers, lectures and workshops at international conferences. Now retired from my academic career, making art is once again my full time occupation. Just for fun, I recently wrote, illustrated and published a children's book, The Amazing Adventures of Radish Toe.
Phumelele Tshabalala was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He studied Fine and Applied Arts at Tshwane University of Technology specializing in Printmaking and Painting. He moved to New York to complete his MFA in Visual Art at SUNY Purchase College. He is currently living and practicing in Los Angeles , California. He interdisciplinary artist, creating socio-reflective figurative work that is primarily concerned about the human condition in light of social injustice. He is influenced by a lineage of South African artists who use art as a weapon to combat the atrocities like apartheid. Post-Apartheid he is amongst contemporary South African artists producing works that re-construct, re-claim, re-fine and refer to a new collective cultural identity. He uses the body as a site of expression and resistance; in some works the black body is a signifier and marker, deeply rooted in historical narratives that are not easily embraced.  He is committed and dedicated to going beyond mere formal questions of making, but aims straight at the heart of who he is, what is going on around him and what he can do to make a difference. He believes in art that is not just an expression of individual satisfaction however a conceptually/technically belligerent and educative art for all.
